Leadinspections will now reach smallerrentals (January 4): S 2622 willsignificantly help protect New Jersey's youngchildren from lead poisoning. The law amendsthe current Hotel and Multiple DwellingsCode, requiring the Department of CommunityAffairs to inspect every single-family andtwo-family rental dwelling for lead-basedpaint hazards at least once every five years.Until now, one and two unit dwellings hadbeen exempt from lead hazard inspections.That omission has now been corrected. (Info)Non-profit exemption (January 13):P.L. 2007, c. 304, which takes effectimmediately, clarifies that the pay-to-playdisclosure laws that regulate for-profitcorporations do not apply to non-profitentities.
